Position No. 00053809. The Philosophy Department of Southern Methodist University seeks to fill a full time Lecturer position beginning August 2025. One year contract, renewable. Approximately 8 courses per year (4/semester), all undergraduate. No research or service duties. Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related field required within one year of appointment. Evidence of teaching excellence required.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will regularly teach History of Modern Philosophy as well as introductory courses in applied ethics (such as Contemporary Moral Problems, Business Ethics, and Technology, Society and Value). The department also has periodic teaching needs in Ancient Philosophy. We would welcome candidates who are interested in expanding our current offerings beyond the standard Western canon; candidates prepared to teach courses on philosophical traditions of Africa, Asia, India, Latin America, or Indigenous peoples, for example, are encouraged to apply.
Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related field required within one year of appointment. Evidence of teaching excellence required.
