Position Summary:
Access Consultant: This position is under the general direction of the Director of the Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR). The Access Consultant works to ensure equal access for students with disabilities in all aspects of campus life, as specified by the mandates of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAA), the Fair Housing Act, state, and university policies.

The Access Consultant is responsible for identifying and implementing reasonable accommodations, determining eligibility, providing advocacy support, and providing case management to students with disabilities. The Access Consultant acts as a resource to the campus community on disability access topics and collaborates with faculty and staff to proactively remove barriers through inclusive initiatives such as universal design.

Academic and Social Skills Coach: The Raven Scholars Program falls under the supervision of the CDAR Director. The Associate Director of Ravens will provide direct supervision of the Academic and Social Skills Coach portion of the job. Ravens Scholars Program provides a supported transition for University of Idaho students on the autism spectrum. The program supports college success by providing weekly planning meetings, peer mentoring, coordination of campus services and opportunities to improve social, academic and life skills. Participants are admitted to the program on a first-come, first-serve basis for this donation-based program.

The Academic and Social Skills Coach provides one-on-one support to individuals enrolled in the program to improve academic and social skills, in addition to assisting the Associate Director in managing general office responsibilities.

The Academic and Social Skills Coach would be responsible for learning about and educating Raven Scholars on campus resources, including the Center for Disability Access and Resources, Student Support Services, Tutoring, Counseling and Testing Center, and other campus services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in counseling, education, English, social work, psychology, sociology, medical, adult, organizational leadership and learning, human development and family studies, communication, or family and consumer science.

One year of post-graduate professional experience coordinating services to individuals with disabilities;
Interviewing experience relevant to disability determination;
Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials;
Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in counseling, education, social work, psychology, sociology, medical, adult, organizational leadership and learning, human development and family studies, communication, and family and consumer science.
Experience providing support to individuals with mental health or learning disabilities.
Knowledgeable of disability laws (Sec. 504, ADA, ADAAA) and other appropriate services/accommodations for students with disabilities at the post-secondary level.
Experience working with applicable laws and regulations regarding student records (FERPA, HIPAA, The Clery Act, and other legislation regarding students rights and services).
Experience with writing concise reports, communicating verbally and in writing.
Experience analyzing problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes.
Experience using professional judgment to solve problems and make sound decisions.
Ability to mediate issues that arise.
Experience organizing and ability to multi-task.
Experience demonstrating and approaching work and interactions with colleagues and students in an equity minded manner.
