University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
The Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor in the Philosophy and Religion Department, with the anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.
In addition to the usual duties of teaching a 3/3 course load, research, and participating in department, university, and professional service, the successful candidate will be the primary advisor for our Philosophy: Pre-Health, Medicine, and Illness major track and teach the capstone course PHIL 4940: Topics in the Philosophy of Health, Medicine, and Illness.
Successful (Ideal) candidates will possess the following requirements:
- Proven expertise in ethics, bioethics and/or medical ethics
- Competency in Continental Philosophy is preferred
- Ability to teach introductory/advanced courses in environmental ethics would also be desirable
- Candidates should also be willing to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction.
- Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC's Strategic Plan.
Minimum or Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment
