Job Summary:
The School of Social Work at Eastern Washington University is currently seeking a Faculty Field Liaison/Associate Director of Field at the rank of Lecturer. The start date for this position is 01/02/2025. This position has a nine-month academic year appointment with potential for summer appointment for assistant director duties. The contract is renewable annually dependent on performance, need, and funding.
Eastern is a growing and dynamic public university co-located in Cheney and Spokane with an enrollment of over 10,000 students. We offer over 140 areas of study and 45 graduate programs. The School of Social Work is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and includes a full-time BASW and MSW program, MSW programs located at sites throughout Washington state, the Center for Aging Studies, Disability Studies, Addiction Studies, Children Studies, and the Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence, a state-wide training partnership with the University of Washington and the Washington Childrens Administration. The School has a long standing partnership with the State of Washington Childrens Administration.
The School is a part of the College of Professional Programs, which offers opportunities for creative interdisciplinary teaching and research. The BASW and MSW programs prepare students for generalist and advanced generalist social work practice in both rural and urban communities, offering elective courses in such areas of practice as behavioral health, aging, child welfare, healthcare, disabilities, and domestic violence.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered qualified for this position, you must meet the minimum qualifications defined below:
- An MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program or the international equivalent;
- A minimum of two years post-MSW degree direct social work practice experience;
- A minimum of two years field instruction or similar experience in a CSWE accredited program;
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, which may be evidenced by providing training or supervision in the workplace;
- Must have a valid drivers license and transportation;
- Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Practice experience which is supported by a record of accomplishments that address the following needs:
- Leadership, supervision and/or administration for agency and community practice in any practice setting;
- Children, youth and families in any practice setting including child welfare;
- Micro practice with advanced clinical knowledge and skills in a behavioral health or healthcare practice settings;
- Gerontology/Aging.

Job Duties:
The successful candidate for this position will spend approximately 50% of the time fulfilling Associate Director of Field Duties and approximately 50% of the time fulfilling Faculty Field Liaison Duties.
The duties of the Associate Director of Field include curriculum development, training, student advising and discipline, and community and student interaction in the BASW and MSW programs. The Associate Director shall engage in trainings and meetings with faculty, staff and students at all programs based on student need and need for field agency support. The Associate Director shall be a member of the field committee.
The Associate Director of Field Education has primary and direct authority as liaison for the Director of Field Education and all field education programs and the Office of Field Education, subject to the administrative supervisory authority of the Director of Field Education. All activities connected to the role shall be exercised by the Associate Field Director with the contemporaneous reporting of such role to the Director of Field Education and the Chair/Director.
Associate Director of Field Education Duties for Curriculum Development and Implementationa) Working closely with the Director of Field Education, the Associate Director of Field Education is responsible for field curriculum development.
b) The Associate Director will monitor with the Chair/Director and Program Directors the integration of the CSWE EPAS into field experience and the implementation of best practices in work in the community.c) The Associate Director will participate in the development of policies and practices related to field curriculum and in the development and implementation of assessment tools to evaluate field practices.d) The Associate Director will also contribute to the review and refinement of the BASW and MSW Field Manuals on an annual basis. This review shall focus on clarity and congruence with the BASW and MSW program objectives, CSWE EPAS, School Policies and Procedures, and EWU Policies and Procedures relating to students.
e) The Associate Director will aid in the development of training for students and field instructors in accordance with applicable CSWE EPAS, as well as the BASW and MSW program objectives
Associate Director of Field Education Duties for Student Advising, Monitoring and Disciplinea) The Associate Director of Field, working closely with the Field Director, interviews students entering field practicum to determine a fit between student learning needs and practicum.
b) The Associate Director will collaborate with the Director of Field Education to prepare full-time students for practicum and place and monitor students in practicum agencies.c) The Associate Director will also offer field seminars periodically as needed, including make-up seminars at the end of each quarter.d) The Associate Director will teach or co-teach practicum prepe) The Associate Director will collaborate with the Director of Field to act as a point of contact for students currently in the field and will work closely with the Field Director to address agency, field instructor, and/or student performance issues. The duties of the Faculty Field Liaison (FFL) include:
Instruct full-time students in BASW and MSW practicum seminars,a) Providing consultation to Agency Field Instructors and students to ensure integration between classroom and field. conducts the site visits with the student and agencies and determines the students final grade.b) Providing consultation to Agency Field Instructors about the BASW and MSW curriculum and the educational planning for assessment of student mastery of core competencies.c) Responding promptly to Agency Field Instructors and students to problem-solve and implement changes in student field practice and field teaching when appropriate and provide feedback regarding progress in student learning and practice competence.d) Reviewing and approving students quarterly evaluations, ensuring that they are successfully demonstrating competency.Percent of Time: 100
